Newmembers_pageWelcome to The New York Nineteenth Century Society! Our mission is to promote the study and understanding of life in 19th-century New York City and the surrounding area through the presentation of participatory workshops, lectures, exhibitions, tours, and other events open to the public.

Those who regularly volunteer their time and effort to further the purpose of the Society, or who regularly attend Society events, are informally described as members. Input from members is solicited at our monthly General Meeting, open to the public and held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at 78 East 8th Street, above Theatre 80 on St. Mark’s Place.

We are a non-profit organization in association with The Greater Astoria Historical Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of history in Queens, New York.
