The New York Nineteenth Century Society is proud to present its first panel discussion on Victorian Gothic literature. Join authors and scholars as they read from and discuss the genre in its many forms, from old favorites like Dracula and Edgar Allan Poe, to rediscovered works by authors like Marie Corelli and Ellen Wood, as well as twenty-first century writing inspired by the Victorian classics.
Afterwards, please join us for informal discussion and socializing at a neighborhood location TBA.
Our distinguished presenters are:
Genevieve Valentine, author, Mechanique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti
Leanne Renee Hieber, author, The Twisted Tragedy of Miss Natalie Stewart
Curt Herr, Kutztown State University, editor of many editions of Victorian Gothic novels including the complete Varney the Vampire
Gwen Hyman, Cooper Union
Leah Richards, LaGuardia Community College
Moderated by Catherine Siemann
So please join us and come and learn about old favorites and make new discoveries!
