Menswear took a dramatic shift beginning in the 1790’s, when fashion became intertwined with the politics of the day. Philosophy and politics came together to shape the look men’s fashion through the 19th Century in ways never seen before, and in ways that can still be seen today.
Inspired by history and politics, Yami Manuel discusses about the evolution of menswear, and the lack of, from the beginning of the 19th century to the late 1890s. Why did menswear change the way it did? What were the politics and social viewings behind it? Why does it matter today?
